Band of the Day - Week 17

Sometimes music is like a hug, or getting under a cozy blanket. Meaning, comforting. I feel like maybe that sums up this week. Or, bands to listen to in a basement. Maybe that’s it? West Coast to No Coast to East Coast to UK Coast. Go find something new to listen to on repeat like I am.

Don’t forget to show these bands some love…follow the socials, buy the music/merch, etc.

Here’s the recap of new (to us) bands we listened to last week (4/25 – 5/1).

xoxo Jaclyn

Week 17

04/25: Half Past Two
I listened to the self-titled full length from 2021. Who has a better memory than me? Was this my first ska band? How can this be my first ska band? Makes you want to get up and dance. Favorite Track: Mean Green (I think the whoa’s got me?)

04/26: Ganser
I listened to the 2020 full length, Just Look At That Sky. The opening to the first track had me intrigued. Then the vocals hit and it kind of sounds like a beautiful disaster. You can’t possible look away. Favorite Track: Lucky

04/27: All Better
I started with the 2019 EP, How It All Worked Out. Then, I checked out the newer singles. Make sure you check out the debut full length, out this Friday, May 6th. I’ll be listening! Favorite Track: Let Go

04/28: Mint Green
I started with they 2016 EP, Growth moved on to the 2018 EP, and then checked out the new singles. I’m excited for their new LP, out June 3rd. Don’t sleep on this band. Favorite Track: Body Language

04/29: Gina Fritz
New music Friday. I checked out the new EP, Fake Fragile. It’s an example of an EP that understands how to genre bend perfectly. Starts with two high energy pop punk jams. Then drops into a pop record for a couple tracks (MY OWN HELL – will get stuck in your head). Then we get heavy for a track, and end with a hip hop pop punk jam? Favorite Track: REMEDY or CASHIN IN

04/30: Making Friends
I listened to both 2021 EP’s, A Beginner’s Guide and Bonk!. Super fun EP’s. Sounds like a super fun basement show, part 1. Requires a tiny basement circle pit. Favorite Track: Early Grave (or Short Story…)

05/1: Lightweight
New music Sunday? I checked out the new EP, This One’s On Me. I was surprised to find out this band was from CA. They sound like they could have been from HVNY/NYC/LI. Gave me Nightmare’s For a Week vibes. Fun EP. Sounds like a super fun basement show, part 2. Favorite Track: 21 Grams Between Us
