Band of the Day - Week 30

Week number 30 is a variety pack. If I was giving weather report music reviews, I feel like last week was sunny day beach vibes. This week is more like mostly sunny with a severe thunderstorm warning vibe. Find something new to listen to on repeat like I am.

If this is your first time here, I’m the worst music reviewer.

Don’t forget to show these bands some love…follow the socials, buy the music/merch, etc.

P.S. Protect trans lives. Say gay everyday. We can’t and won’t be erased. Be a safe space for your local and not so local queers to land. We see you. We are here for you. We love you.

Here’s the recap of new (to us) bands we listened to last week (7/25 – 7/31).

xoxo Jaclyn

Week 30

07/25: Poor sports.
I listened to the 2022 release, good grief. Sounds like a fun basement show. You know a tightly packed space, screaming sad songs with your friends. Favorite Track: burden or alright

07/26: LOSER
I listened to to 2021 album, All The Rage. Well done. The opener with that harmony that sneaks in at :24 = chills. Also some definite nods to the 90s – grab a flannel to cope with the chills. Favorite Track: Head First

07/27: Puppy Feet
I started with the 2021 EP, Unconditionally Terrified (great title) and moved on to the newer singles. If I was standing in front of a line of genre labeled boxes, I would have no idea where to put this. I will definitely be checking out the new EP coming out next week. Favorite Track: Fall Apart

07/28: Fake Eyes
I listened to the 2020 EP, A Drip Is All We Know. Flannel required. Grungy, emo(y) shoegaze(y). This would fit your rainy day perfectly. Favorite Track: It Will Appear As Such

07/29: downcast
New music Friday! I listened to the new release, i saw hell when i was with you. Melodic pop punk with a hint of post-hardcore adjacent? Catchy bops with plenty of sing a long moments. Favorite Track: mistakes that i have made or someplace safer

07/30: Looseleaf
I started with the 2020 release, Grey and Overgrown and then checked out the newer singles. (Mostly) crunchy guitar emo with perfectly balanced vocal melodies. Favorite Track: Green Eyes or Recycle

07/31: Urameshi
I checked out 2021 EP, Breathing Techniques. This easily wins the ‘most unique sound of the week’ award. A little bit of x + y = z (math), a few horns, some sweet harmonies, a tad bit of grit. Well done. Favorite Track: Traveler
