The soundtrack of this week = genre-bending British, Australian, and Midwestern accents. Not featured on this list, The Great American Novel, the new full length from Proper. Holy shit though, that thing is good. This week had a massive New Music Friday. Go find something new to listen to on repeat like I am.
Don’t forget to show these bands some love…follow the socials, buy the music/merch, etc.
Here’s the recap of new (to us) bands we listened to last week (3/21 – 3/27).
xoxo Jaclyn
03/21: Fortitude Valley
I listened to the self-titled full length from 2021. It’s a good Monday morning record. Posi pop? It’s like 60s vibes for today? Favorite Track: All Hail The Great Destroyer and The Right Thing, Pt. 1
03/22: Slash Fiction
I listened to the 2021 release, Gender, Trauma & Friendship. Great opener. Sounds like basement sing-a-long songs. Favorite Track: I’ll Get There, If I Leave Everything But My Bones Behind (longest title ever)
03/23: Brooklane
I checked out the 2021 release, Roll with the Punches. Fast, raw, catchy, pop-punk? Favorite Track: Growing Older (or maybe Anxiety)
03/24: The Buoys
I listened to the 2021 EP, Unsolicited Advice for Your DIY Disaster. Great title. Great opener. Great middle. Great closer. Definite 90s vibes. Favorite Track: Drive Me Home
03/25: The Grievance Club
New music Friday. I listened to the new 2022 album, Joymaykr. Really good record. I had a hard time picking one favorite. Favorite Track: Sealegs
03/26: The Centaurettes
I checked out the 2021 EP, Cute To Be Mean and the new single. Fun little EP! Sounds like a fun basement show. I had a hard time picking a favorite. Favorite Track: I was torn between The Barge and Dear Diary
03/27: The Burnt Tapes
I checked out the 2020 EP, Grower and some of the 2019 full length, Never Better. Favorite Track: Getitgotitgood (EP); Never Better (full length);
