If you’ve been following along…I missed another day this week. (If you haven’t been following along…I set out to listen to at least one new band every single day. I missed Friday. I made up for it by listening to 2 new bands on Sunday). The www is like a treasure hunt. Go find something new to listen to on repeat like I am.
Don’t forget to show these bands some love…follow the socials, buy the music/merch, etc.
Here’s the recap of new (to us) bands we listened to last week (4/18 – 4/24).
xoxo Jaclyn
04/18: The Middle Room
I listened to the 2020 release, Never Satisfied. I also listened to the new single. This was a good way to start the week. Posi-pop punk sing along songs (at least musically speaking – I haven’t gotten through a read of the words)! Definitely interested to hear what’s next. Favorite Track: Hold That Thought
04/19: Matchstick Ghost
I first heard Plum Summer, and then checked out the new singles. Sweet harmonies. I’m excited to hear the EP, which drops on 4/29. Favorite Track: My Therapist Knows All About You or Plum Summer
04/20: Concrete Surfers
I started with the 2021 EP, Calamities. I listened while I was trying not to get lost in Myrtle Beach after an 11 hour car ride. The first song is called, Driving, so it made perfect sense. I picked one of the 2019 singles as my favorite track because it sounded like grunge, if grunge was a genre in the 80s. Favorite Track: Shattered Thoughts
04/21: Sleep It Off
I checked out the latest single, Pedestal and then went backwards through the discog. Consistently catchy pop-punk jams with super high harmonies! What’s next? Favorite Track: Pedastal
04/22: Fail
04/23: Heart to Gold
New music Saturday? I started the new full length, Tom. I did a full listen through on Sunday. Starts huge, ends perfectly unexpectedly. Production wise, I feel like it captures the perfect amount of rawness that if you close your eyes, you feel like you’re at a live show (of course I’ve never seen this band live…). Favorite Track: Gimme A Call (Saturday’s listen); Moon River Rock or Miserable (Sunday’s listen)
04/24 part 1: Phantom Bay
New music Sunday? I checked out the new self-titled full length, Phantom Bay. Holy shit. This rips. The end. Favorite Track: the entire thing
04/24 part 2: Small Talk.
I listened to the 2020 EP, Drowning in Your Absence. Somber, rainy day emo vibes all the way through. Favorite Track: Numb or Fault Line
