I don’t think I mentioned the 90s at all this week. Doesn’t mean I didn’t need a flannel. A bunch of SoCal bands, a few Australian gems, a quick stop in the UK, and can’t not listen to a mid-west band. Find something new to listen to on repeat like I am.
If this is your first time here, I’m the worst music reviewer.
Don’t forget to show these bands some love…follow the socials, buy the music/merch, etc.
P.S. Protect trans lives. Say gay everyday. We can’t and won’t be erased. Be a safe space for your local and not so local queers to land. We see you. We are here for you. We love you.
P.P.S. Safe abortion for all. No compromise. No Apology.
Here’s the recap of new (to us) bands we listened to last week (8/15 – 8/21).
xoxo Jaclyn
08/15: Ruthcrest
I checked out the self-titled EP from 2021, Ruthcrest. It’s a fun little EP. Catchy bops. Favorite Track: Say It Again
08/16: Good Terms
I listened to the 2021 full length, Turning Point. It’s got emo vibes. It’s got punk vibes. It’s got moments like ~1:33-1:44 in Sand Castle. Well done. Favorite Track: Wither Away or Sand Castle or the whole thing
08/17: We Are The Movies
I started with the full length from 2018, …Or Get Busy Dying and then checked out some newer singles. It’s fast, catchy, pop-punk. Sounds like a fun show. Favorite Track: Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying
08/18: The Belair Lip Bombs
I think I listened to everything and loved it all. Favorite Track: Out Of Here
08/19: Down For Tomorrow
I checked out the 2020 EP, Whatever Happens and then checked out the newer singles. I listened to this while walking to the Hook Mt trailhead. Great little EP. I appreciate the harmonies! Favorite Track: Trouble Prone
08/20: Fonzy & Company
New music Saturday? I checked out the new EP, Touché. I listened to this while on a walk on a hot and humid day. The humidity wasn’t fun or enjoyable. This EP was both! Favorite Track: No Way (Man You’re Old)
08/21: Ridgeway
I listened to the 2021 full length, Marlo. For a randomly selected record, this perfectly matched my mood. A perfect record for a lazy Sunday. Favorite Track: Thrive
