4 weeks left in the year. I still don’t understand genres. I’m still uncovering so many gems. Have a listen and see if you can tell where each band is from. Go find something new to listen to on repeat like I am.
If this is your first time here, I’m the worst music reviewer.
Don’t forget to show these bands some love…follow the socials, buy the music/merch, etc.
P.S. Protect trans lives. Say gay everyday. We can’t and won’t be erased. Be a safe space for your local and not so local queers to land. We see you. We are here for you. We love you.
P.P.S. Safe abortion for all. No compromise. No Apology.
Here’s the recap of new (to us) bands we listened to last week (11/28 – 12/04).
xoxo Jaclyn
11/28: Test The Waters
I listened to the 2021 EP, Tardigraded. It’s fun. It’s pop punk. Favorite Track: Are These Hangovers Worth It?
11/29: Heavyhead
I checked out the EP from 2021, Weedeater. They describe themselves as “Emotions from Dayton, OH”. That’s a fantastic description. Push play. You’ll like it. Favorite Track: Reminiscing in a Taco Bell Parking Lot at 3AM
11/30: Pillow Fort
New music Wednesday? I listened to the new EP, Words That Change in Meaning. It’s jangly and emo(y). Favorite Track: Nelson Muntz had an Absent Father Too
12/01: Spite House
New music Thursday? I checked out the new self-titled full length. If you’re like me, you’ll love it. Favorite Track: Awake
12/02: Dull Mourning
New music Friday! I listened to the new EP, Ugly Flame and their track from the split with Anxious Arms. Post-hardcore. The right amount of dissonance, melody, and angst. Favorite Track: Rejoice (from the split) or Narrow Losses.
12/03: The Losing Score
New music Saturday? I checked out the new record, Learn to Let This Go. It’s bright, jangly, emo(y), pop punk. (How do genres work?) It’s catchy. I liked it. Favorite Track: Calm Before the Storm (I had a hard time picking)
12/04: Sunset Radio
New music Sunday? I listened to the new full length, Thank You, Goodbye!. It’s melodic pop-punk. You’ll like it! Favorite Track: Melody
